A teacher, no matter what level he or she is teaching, is saddled with huge responsibilities. It's not enough that they are masters of the subject they teach. Teachers are also expected to connect with their students and guide them in every possible way. Very often, whatever they say or do leaves an indelible imprint on the students. So whether it's in the classroom or out in the streets, they need to be their best person every time.

To enter the teaching profession, one should be fully dedicated to the role. A teaching profession isn't just a fancy thought that you get. It's a lifetime obligation with grand rewards if you genuinely care about your position. If you don't have characteristics that all teachers must acquire, you won't last in the job even if you enjoy teaching.

Every teacher should be patient. If you don't have this, you certainly won't survive in the profession. Without this, you will be depressed in your teaching post and you will likewise make your pupils just as depressed. Remember, you are dealing with kids and not-so-little kids five days a week so patience is a virtue that you must possess.

Because you are handling those who wish or have to learn, you need to obtain a positive attitude. Students require as much motivation as they can get from you so if you can't be positive for their sake, you will be bringing them down.

What distinguishes great teachers from good ones is their sense of humor. Although a teacher should know when everything must turn serious, a timely sense of humor can ease the stress in the class and can make learning more fascinating.

Creativity is a really useful tool in instructing. Teachers will surely lose the attention of the class if they lecture their students in the same tedious way everyday. It may be correct that it is their obligation to listen to learn, but you should also aid them in any means that you can.

Being a teacher means you need to get your hands dirty and twist your way into your pupils' life to help them grow and learn. It is far from having a fancy desk job. The teaching job is for you if you can fully commit emotionally.
