Science Made Easy With Solid Phase Extraction System

By Christine Evans

Over the years, the population of the earth is rising, and with it, is also the increase of diseases that are harmful to mankind. The increase can be blamed to the rising of novelty viruses. Due to the high demand of products by mankind, manufacturing companies are being forced to utilize artificial ingredients in the making of their products to hasten supplication of such products. The improper disposal of the hazardous ingredients with the combination of current viruses from nature, diseases became powerful to withstand scientific remedies. Fortunately, doctors and inventors collaborated to invent a way to keep up with the increase. The invention of the solid phase extraction system is the way for these collaborators to go up against the alarming viral discoveries.

The job of pharmacological scientists is to sort out contaminated liquid materials in the hopes of countering production and reproduction of contagions. This system has allowed these scientists to isolate each element depending on its chemical and physical properties. Eventually, it will lead to sample extraction, preservation and storage, site sampling, and indicating of unique biometrics.

An SPE device is a convenience for scientist due to its capability of being portable. Samples that easily degrade can be taken on the site of interest. The device also brings the scientist confidence that its storage is reliable in preserving said samples. This convenience has greatly helped doctors to gather samples from areas where medical facilities are scarce.

Devices offering this system have different kinds. Doctors are able to determine which type is appropriate for their study by the volume of samples, the level of contamination, sample matrix complexity, quality of composite of interest, and type and the strength of the solvent of the matrix. Yet, there are only three ways that a doctor can isolate the composite of interest from any impurity while using a certain type of this device. Mentioned below are the three methodologies.

The selective extraction method. Using an SPE sorbent that would bind the selected compounds of the sample, the compounds are retained when it passes through the tube. One can either choose to collect the adsorbed compounds or discard the tube containing extracted impurities.

The selective washing method. When the sample passes through, the compound of interests and impurities are retained on the SPE packing. The impurities are then rinsed with wash solutions that are capable or removing them, and will leave the compound behind.

Selective elution methodology. With the usage of another sorbent, the adsorbed composite is to undergo elution. The strong retention of impurities will have such impurities left behind.

The capability of this system to pinpoint biometric indicators has become very useful for scientists. The DNA extraction service being offered by this device can also be used by crime investigators to determine a suspect. Since each one has different biometrics, solving crimes has less complicated.

The increase of human population resulted to the production of new diseases that are formed using artificial ingredients, and restoring and strengthening of diseases that were formed in nature. This has resulted to the desire of doctors to find new ways in countering them. Scientists are not the only ones who can help in the movement. Individuals can start boycotting merchandise from manufacturing companies that use hazardous ingredients during the making of such products.
