Make All Your Data Available Throughout Your Private Network With A Home NAS

By Lawrence Williams

Do you ever stress about losing any of your computer files like your photographs, music and videos? Or ever thought it would be sweet to be able to access all of that data from any computing device on your private network?

Perhaps you just purchased a new Television with net connectivity and now you notice how simple it would be to watch slideshows of your baby pictures, holiday pictures or other neat stuff right on your big screen instead of that little picture frame viewer you were given for Christmas one or two years ago.

Home network storage is the way to consolidate all your vital data in one place so all of your computers, portables, netbooks, even mobile devices and TV's can access the info conveniently.

How often have you questioned where a specific file was, searched around for a USB thumb drive to transfer it with once you do find what computer it is on, and then wish it were better to move files between your PC and your Mac?

A home NAS (network attached storage) device is just the ticket.

Not only can your home network storage server be the hub of your network with all of your devices connecting to it to save and retrieve info, but your home NAS also helps protect your data in two ways.

First, a properly configured network storage device will have multiple hard drives in it set-up in such a way that if one hard drive fails you have not yet lost any information. The NAS can then alert you you will need to fix the problem BEFORE any information is lost!

Second, should you sensibly choose a web backup service to protect your info off site, having all of the music libraries, photo albums, video and financial records stored centrally in one place makes is easy to configure the backup and reassuring that everything you care about is being protected.

Home network storage is a smart decision, easy to implement and reasonable too.
