The iPad 3 And What You Can Expect From It

By Etha M Chesterman

The iPad 3, which Apple is really just calling the new iPad, is the third generation of this groundbreaking device. Although many other companies are now producing tablets, Apple is still considered by most to be the leader in this field. The question, many people have, though, is whether or not the new iPad is significantly different or superior to the iPad 2.

Hopefully, this question will be answered in this review.

One of the biggest complaints with the first iPad was that it didn't have a camera. So Apple put a camera in the iPad 2, but many customers were not very enthusiastic about its performance. So now the new iPad has been upgraded to include a 5-megapixel iSight camera. You can also record 1080p HD video with the camera. It also has automatic video stabilization, allowing your videos to come out clearly without shakes. The camera has auto face detection, meaning it can recognize people who you frequently photograph. The camera can also be used to make video calls and chat with your friends, no matter where they live. While you may not be getting an iPad mainly to take pictures, the new and improved camera is one of the impressive upgrades you'll appreciate with this new model.

If you are traveling about, whether on foot or by car, the new iPad can help you navigate around. It's easy to find things, or go to places you have never been before. Ask it to find a "Italian restaurant" or "motel" and the Maps feature will get you there. It's easy to get multiple routes to your destination and also turn by turn directions if you need them. A map view or a satellite view is available when trying to see your location. You also have the ability to zoom in, or zoom out, of the location you are going. You can also e-mail where you are going to others, or send it via Twitter, to the destination of your choice. Regardless of where you are traveling, the iPad can be used as a GPS to help guide your way.

One criticism people had about the original iPad was that it didn't support Flash. This is something that Apple hasn't changed with its upgrades. There are many websites that have Flash features you won't be able to access. This also limits your options for watching videos. Many people, however, believe that Flash is a feature that is going out of style. Apple is apparently trying to pressure people to use alternatives so that more content is compatible with the iPad. Yet for now it's still true that many websites and videos require flash capability to view them. So this is one limitation that you have to live with if you get an iPad, even the latest one. The iPad 3 is a device that has a wide variety of useful and fun features. Apple continues to improve its creation, and the latest version will not disappoint many people. Some of the criticisms of the earlier iPads, such as lack of Flash, and incompatibility with traditional computers are still valid. However, when you consider how much you can do with the new iPad, it's still a good value.
