Knowing More About Bluetooth For Computers

By Alexandra Brown

Bluetooth is not only being used in mobile phones but can also be used in many other gadgets including the computer. This is the reason why it has become more and more popular. For the benefit of those people that are not quite familiar with Bluetooth, we will be discussing basic information about it. Bluetooth is a kind of wireless system protocol that has the ability to interact and exchange data with other Bluetooth-enabled devices or systems. Bluetooth is said to be same with other communication protocols such as HTTP, FTP, IMAP and SMTP. In a fast paced world wherein almost all things are becoming instant, use of Bluetooth helps us to keep up with the fast paced lane and leave the slow moving and traditional world behind. Before, sending messages takes time before it can reach the person concerned because the method of communication is slow and primitive. But with the use of technology, faster communication methods are now available for man to use.

Telecoms vendor ericsson was first to use Bluetooth to solve the problems of synchronizing many devices. Because of the discovery of Bluetooth in 1994, transferring of file has become easier and hassle-free. Bluetooth technology uses only a low 2.45 GHz frequency but has the ability to transfer files from one communication data to another. That is one of the many reasons why it is widely used in mobile phones and other devices like computers.

Another good thing about Bluetooth technology is that it cannot interrupt other electronic device since it is only using weak signals that consume only 1mw. Compared to other devices that has the potential to interrupts and disrupts data communication, use of Bluetooth is deemed harmless.

Now the question would be, how you would be able to add Bluetooth enabled device to your computer? There are two things that you need to do in order to know whether your computer and device are ready to connect:

1. First is to add a Bluetooth adapter to you computer if it does not have a built in Bluetooth adapter. The Bluetooth adapter can be plugged into a USB port. It is good to know that there are now computers that come with built -in Bluetooth adapter most especially laptops. For you to be able to use the Bluetooth function of your computer or laptop, you can either turn on the adapter or turn on the Bluetooth switch on your laptop if it has one. Check the manual of your computer if you are not sure whether your computer or laptop has a built-in Bluetooth adapter or how to turn on the Bluetooth adapter.

2. Next thing that you need to do is setting up the Bluetooth-enabled device so that your computer will be able to find it. You can do this by turning the device on and making sure that it is discoverable. Once the device is in discoverable mode, it sends a wireless signal to other Bluetooth-enabled devices that allows it to be detected by other mobile phones, computers and other devices. Thus you will be able to pair your Bluetooth-enabled device to your computer and this is also called the pairing mode.

Compared to using wires and cable connectors, use of Bluetooth is automatic, wireless and can reach up to 32 feet. That is why a lot of people opt to use Bluetooth enabled gadgets which helps them to eliminate use of wires and cable connectors that most of the time is accidentally tied.
