Leadership Tips To Live By

By Hedrick Lepsch

You may be coming from college and you might be ready to get out there and start your life. There are some hard realities that are going to set in fast. Life isn't what you learned in those books and there are a lot of things that you still need to learn about getting ahead in life. The degree is good but it may not take you to the top tier. Here are some things to learn before you get torn apart out there.

A great leader understands justice and what is fair. This may seem like the lone ranger kind of cheesy, feel good, nonsense that Hollywood tries to glamorize, but there is some truth to it. A great leader will be able to make wise decisions by understanding justice. Take, for example, King Solomon who had to make a decision on which mother should take the child that was being claimed. Now you will see this story immortalized every time you look up at the famous statue in front of most court houses.

Many times as a leader you are expected to make decisions at the drop of a hat and it really isn't that simple especially under stressful circumstances. Judgment entails the ability to calmly make sound decisions when the pressure is on or even when there isn't any pressure at all. Sometimes it takes following your instinct. The marines have a saying that goes like this "a poorly planned decision initiated is much more effective than a great plan not." There is a lot of truth to that statement and it takes a little bit of foresight and experience to really understand it.

Raw grit and tenacity can be the difference between motivating a team and inspiring others and just being a mediocre leader. It is really all about exemplary leadership and it brings added motivation to all those who are around this sort of leader. Dogged determination really shows in the attitude of a leader and is expressed through his/her actions.

But, his commitment to producing and selling high quality food to anyone who wanted it has helped him to gain the success he has today, and has allowed the world to become more devoted to eating clean foods untainted by harmful pesticides.

You will soon find out that it is all about who you know and not exactly what you know. The people you are surrounded by may be your key to getting to your next career. If you aren't keeping up with people, you will find that you are really just shooting yourself in the foot and it will hurt you in the future.

While things start to get somewhat stressful when you are finally out of school and working, you will find that there is too much to keep you busy. You need to make sure that you are finding time to breathe and keep healthy and happy. While there is wisdom in preparing for the storms ahead in life, you also need to make sure you have a little fun in the sun while you can.

There are too many people relying on you to help them and lead them. If you don't inspire by taking charge and showing that you have talent then it will be hard to get those you lead to respond in a respectful and encouraging way.

Leadership is something that we all have to work on sooner or later. If you are trying to understand leadership better you can always go to leadership training in Denver.
