Social Media Networking & Other Methods May Help The OUYA

By Rob Sutter

When I'm wrong, I'm not going to simply place the blame somewhere else. I know that I can make short-sided predictions and, as a result, I find myself with more egg on my face than I would care to have. In the news, the OUYA has been making some strides in terms of the niche gaming market and it's something that I have to note. I'm not entirely confident in the console nowadays and I have to wonder if social media networking would have helped to make a difference on the matter.

I thought that the OUYA, at least initially, was a nifty console because of how far it seemed to deviate from the mainstream. I believed that while Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo could have the mainstream crowd, the OUYA would be a good option for those who may be on budgets. They can take this fourth option into the household and be entertained. It seems like it's going to be opposite now, after more and more reports have serviced in regards to the platform, online marketing not looking terribly strong, either.

I think that when the prototype was brought to the early backers, there was more negative press about it than anything else. There was trouble buying items online, which is bad enough considering that there's no physical software associated with the system. However, the hardware also proved to be a problem, the controller in particular not being quite as sturdy as it should have been. The OUYA, as you could imagine, is not off to a tremendous start and there has to be work done in order to make it better.

In terms of social media networking, I think the OUYA would benefit since it definitely has a fan base worth addressing. Crowds are not going to be nearly as interested in your goods if communication is not had, which is something that can be backed by firms on the matter like fishbat. In terms of the actual quality of the console, though, that is up to the people behind it. They have to be able to modify so that it will hold up better, both physically and in terms of digital media.

I still think that the OUYA can be a fun console but not until some alterations are made to make it better. The hardware is one vital point that deserves to be modified, more specifically the controller and keeping it together. It's also possible that the interface could use some changes, more specifically making it easier for players to navigate. These are simple matters on the surface but who knows just how much time these would need in order to be modified?
