By Seth Czerepak

Understanding people better can make a Big difference in your ability to choose better relationships and to have a favorable influence upon people. However, understanding people doesn't come easy for most people, and usually the harder we make sense of others the more mixed up we get.

In the following paragraphs, you will discover three methods you can use to begin understanding people better quickly.

Rely on Their Actions, Rather Than their Speech

The first key to understanding people should be to have confidence in their actions as opposed to their speech. A lot of everyday people aren't self aware enough to be aware of the things which actually influence their actions, and this is why human beings at times hinder their success or perhaps do things that won't appear logical. So it's lack self-awareness often causes men and women to say something and then do something different.

So by putting your faith in peoples' behaviors rather than peoples' words, you'll clear away a lot of the uncertainty that originates from trying to understand them.

Realize What Motivates People

At their core, people are influenced according to the drive to gratify both their physical and emotional needs. This is true in every human being alive, including people that express no emotion externally. The most effective way to interpret the emotional needs would be to narrow them down to the basic three: The need for excitement, the need for security and the need for validation. A human's urge to meet these three needs might cause them to do things which don't make any sense which is the reason understanding people with the use of logic alone is ineffective.

Avoid Projecting Your Own "Stuff" Onto Others

The greatest block to understanding people is the belief that everyone has the same beliefs that you do, or thinking they "should" believe like you. This makes it hard to see people as they are, and that's why you must not let your own "stuff" get in the way as you try to understanding people. An easy way to accomplish this would be to discern AND take responsibility for where you are projecting your own perceptions, insecurities and beliefs onto others.

So those are three simple methods for understanding people more effectively. The more you use these, the simpler it will be for you to select higher quality relationships the easier time you'll have influencing others.
