And then you see numbers and acronyms such as RAM, OS, etc. If you experience the same puzzled what is this reaction then you and I were at one time on the same boat. Let us go through some computer parts that are necessary to look at.

The Operating System Examples of an Operating System of a laptop is Windows Vista, Windows XP, Linux, etc. Your laptop's OS or Operating System allows you to install other programs. This is the main program or the mother program in all computers. If you don't have an OS then your computer will just turn on and you can't do anything after that.

Processor You would always see the GHz letters when looking at processors. How fast your processor works is measured in GigaHertz or more commonly known as clock speed. However all you need to keep in mind is if you want a faster and better laptop go for the laptop with higher GigaHertz capacity.

The RAM Memory/DDR is commonly referred to as RAM (Random Access Memory). This is a temporary storage unit of your laptop. RAM is used to store currently accessed data. RAM is used every time you open a program. The more programs you open, the more RAM is used. Different programs needs different RAM capacity.

Programs that require high RAM capacity are internet programs involving high grade graphics or videos, graphic and video editing programs, etc. If your tasks in your laptop involve these kinds of program, look for a laptop with higher RAM capacity. This would avoid your laptop to hang or slow down.

The Hard drive This is where your programs installed and files whether temporary or permanent are stored. If your work in your laptop involves a lot of graphic designs you should get a hard drive with bigger storage capacity.

What is Display? This pertains to the pixel ratio of the laptop graphics. If you prefer clearer images, get a laptop that has a higher ratio.

Battery You would want to be able to work for long hours. Keep in mind the higher the battery cells the longer the battery life will last.

Most laptops already have these features built-in a package which sometimes makes you sacrifice some of the features that you need or want. The HP Pavilion DV5 series offers you the choice to get what you need. With the HP Pavilion DV5 series, you can customize the specifications or features of your laptop. This is a huge advantage that most laptops do not offer. In customizing your laptop, you are able to acquire and avoid sacrificing the feature that you need. If you know the features of a laptop, you would be able to get the laptop that suits you. Just remember to always check for compatibility of features.
