Keep Those Clients Happy With Corporate Gifts

By Gareth Brody

Giving personal gifts is a shade different from giving gifts with corporate gift giving. We have a tendency to presume that it is the thought that counts when we purchase gifts meant for people with whom we are in close contact with. Sometimes, we scrimp on the budget while at the same time take the effort to ensure that what we are getting is something that the recipient would love. In corporate gift giving, however, cheap items will always be spotted, and may insult the sensibilities of the recipient. Corporate gift giving is an art that has to be learned for it to do contribute success to our business.

Corporate gifts are typically costly items and they do not carry any company symbol or brand name, as their purpose is not marketing or promotion. However, at times organizations also give employees and prospects promotional items such as pen drives, pens, key-chains and stationery items that are emblazoned with the business logo.

The gifts to be given by the company should be selected keeping in mind the needs and desires of the person for whom the gift is being purchased for. Business gifting should always be chosen with the receiver in mind. There is no point giving a gift - particularly a corporate gift - to someone who will not treasure what we have given. We should be looking to create a 'WOW' wherever possible.

The perceived value of a corporate gift is its most critical feature. It is this aspect which has the intended effect on the customer or employee, which aids in developing and maintaining a cordial working relationship with them. However, gift-giving is sometimes regulated by the law, so a quick check with your legal department is worthwhile.

Before buying corporate gifts you should prepare a budget, decide upon the number of gifts to be given, and look for good offers for a mass purchase from the wholesalers. This is clearly more important in case of gifts to employees, especially if yours is a large-sized business. You should procure the right number of gifts so that no employee whom you wish to thank is missed out.

To sum it up, presenting corporate gifts is a smart business practice which helps you develop a closer and healthier relationship with both your employees and your customers
