The Power Of Observation

By Darrel Jefferson

Observation can be a key skill when you are out networking and making your way in the world. So how can you really develop your observational skills and make habits that count?

First- Be willing to try new things and have a diverse knowledge in other areas. If you want to not only look smart, but be smart it takes in depth research and analysis. This can come through talking to other geniuses or just by spending the time and cranking out the gears in your brain.

Challenge yourself with worthwhile goals that enhance your senses and help you stay in tune with the things around you. An example of this is playing or listening to good music. Musicians are able to observe things that many people cant.

Third- Get writing. There is nothing that releases intellectual seeds than by spitting out what you are thinking and then regurgitating it by reading as you go. If you want things to really stick then writing will be your best friend and can sometime provide you with a good outlet for your emotions. Writing also helps in your networking for ideas and concepts.

To fully comprehend events or what is going on around us we have to substantiate it with our senses. If we can verify it with more than one of our senses than it can be held up as if in a court of law.

Third- Think Simple because its really quiet "elementary my dear Watson". Too many people complicate the world around them when there is an obvious and simple answer to most of the puzzling problems in the world today.

When we hear the word observant there are many synonyms that come mind such as cognizant, vigilant, watchful, alert, and attentive. All of these may bring a different feeling with them and can therefore help us in our efforts to create a more observant lifestyle.

Seventh-Travel to new places. There is no better way to get your mind blown then to visit a culture where they have a completely different way of thinking and doing things. This helps create new thinking waves and can inspire you to new intellectual heights.

Other distraction may be the noise we allow in our lives. Whether it is load music to "give us a break" or just loud environments we live in, they can really take away from our ability to analyze and think properly.

Ninth-Find out what you are passionate about or just what makes you curious. Sometimes this can get you on a "high" and can be the catalyst you need to take your mind to new and intriguing levels.

By placing emphasis on our observational skills we will gain a new appreciation for what is around us and we will find much more purpose in life. It will prompt us to ask meaningful questions that can really promote change in the world which is really what we should all be doing.
