When I decided to become a dentist many years ago, it never crossed my mind that all these years later, I would have to spend a huge amount of time stressing about dental software. I opened my own dental practice over twenty years ago, and at that time we were still using those old massive x-ray machines that used x-ray film and were tremendously complicated and difficult to use.

I got so accustomed to it, that I initially dismissed the first digital x-ray machines that I saw, along with the dental software that younger dentists are all over. I eventually changed my mind when I was visiting a colleague who insisted on showing me his new software, hoping that he could convince me to adopt the same program. He was correct because I was blown away by how easy this program was to use as soon as he showed it to me. I had been thinking that since it was such advanced technology that it would actually be harder for an old dental veteran like myself to easily grasp, but I was so wrong.

Something else that I really appreciated about the software was that it was web-based, so that I could simply log in from anywhere at any time and look up a patient's records without having to really be in the office. I saw a lot of potential in using this feature on my smartphone since I could review patient needs when I was at home, out at lunch, or at a conference.

On top of all that, the dental imaging abilities of this software were amazing! It was a lot easier to see the details of the teeth in these images, which would allow me to make better decisions for treatments if I had the assistance of this wonderful technology. I told my friend I wanted to learn more and asked him where I could look, and he showed me the website for the company he had gotten his equipment from.

I did some more research about this software and grew more and more positive that it was what my practice needed, and knew that we needed to change the way we run our practice. I made my order and was excited for it to arrive so that I could feel like I was finally catching up with the rest of the world. Technology is my friend, now, and I know that I am giving my patients the absolute best possible treatment for their teeth.
