Powerful Small Item - Nikon Waterproof Digital Camera Review

By Taylor Jackson

It is simple to use (logical menus really help), takes great pictures, and best of all it is armored. There aren't any parts that stick out to get sand in, and when not in use it protects the lens with a cover.

I bought this camera in replacement of my former Olympus Stylus 720SW which had broken after my son opened the battery cover while taking pictures in the lake. I love, love, love my 720SW, and assumed that the current Olympus water-proof cameras would be an equally quality product.

I bought this camera just for Kayaking. It takes quality photos and is very simple to use.

I haven't pushed the camera to the specification limits that the product pushes. But I am impressed. Also the pictures always seemed to turn out blurry; I'd have to take several pictures of the same frame to get a good one. I tried every setting and always ended up with the same result. Probably seven out of ten pictures are terrible. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable in picture taking and I have tried changing all the functions and nothing improves the quality.

The screen is full of water. I am over it. Videos on the other hand are pretty horrible compared my other point shoot Cannon SD780 IS. The videos are maybe acceptable to You Tube but certainly not for a larger screen.

I've found that I stay most often in the program mode. I will agree with other uses that sometimes the pictures appear washed out or too dark, in which case, you can adjust the amount of light you want in. Welcome to the reality of point and shoot digital cameras where shutter lag can vary by tenths of a second between models, oh please! It's all good! The software takes time too long to initiate. So it's almost impossible to take a shot of an important moment we face suddenly. This unit has all the features we need and is tough enough for this type of use. I've had this camera for just over a year and taken it all over the world multiple times. Just my 2 cents! We ordered this through Amazon but they fulfilled it for Beach Camera.

I do however with there was a view finder so taking pictures in the dark would be easier. This is my second stylus water proof camera. I was just surprised how the quality of the pictures turned out so bad. Great camera for what I wanted.
