Rises Above Expectations - Best Cell Phone Car Mount Review

By Anthony Ward

I didn't use the vent clip, as I live in Arizona and we need all the ventilation we can get so I can't speak to that, but it looks pretty straight forward. The adjustability of the arm has met every demand I've had, and the dash mount plate stays put even in this terrible desert heat! In the truck I ended up mounting the disk to my dashboard and that's been working fine for me. I haven't gotten around to attaching the disk to the dash in my car yet but I'm sure that will end up being the best solution there as well. You can use either but not both. I echo the comments of many others here that the suction cup is powerful and very solid. It's a great product for a great price. Works perfect on the air vent in my 2010 Honda Civic.

I needed a mount to replace the proprietary mount for my GPS, so I could mount my dinc2, and it works. Haven't tried the vent clips, but the window mount sticks well and hasn't fallen off.

I have used the product for a month now. Both the windshield and dashboard mount work exactly as they should, securely holding my phone (HTC Incredible) for navigation and multimedia purposes. I was impressed with the quality of the Windshield mount and was happy to see how snug my phone fit. The adjustable arms were such a great idea. All of the mounts work with the included holding piece. I'll review each piece separately. The more sloped your windshield the worse it will be as well. There are apparently clip-in vent mounts available made especially for your make/model of car from other vendors, and I'd look there before here.

This is the second Akron Windshield mount we have purchased. The first is in my other car. Everything I have tried does not even come close to the job that this one has been able to do. If you have a hard to fit phone as I do, this truly is a must have. I still prefer to use it on my windshield however, but that's just me. It's made of plastic, but the build quality is solid, and I have no worries about it breaking. I couldn't be happier. I love it!

The suction clip is apparently designed to be used with the plate. The distance between the cup and the back of the cradle is so short (and limited as well in angle) that mounting on a wind shield basically doesn't work.

I emailed Arkon, and got a very fast response (within a day.) They shipped me out a replacement suction cup. They never asked me for a receipt, although they did request some pictures of the unit.
