With Cataclysm arrives new ores that you could mine and use in leveling other professions. With the new launch of Cataclysm these ores have been selling very well. But what I hope to do is give you names with the new ores in Cataclysm and where you can find them.

Obsidian:

The 1st new ore you will come across is definitely an ore known as Obsidian. It's what we might call a standard mineral when mining in Cataclysm, and can include gems, Volatile Fire, Volatile Earth, and Volatile Shadow. Which you can offer these Volatiles at the Auction House for anywhere near to $20-$30 gold an item. Obsidian Ore has dropped to around $6-9 gold an item and i also suspect could keep dropping in cost. Right now you can turn them into bars that is holding market price a bit stronger.

For Prospecting Functions You'll find Carnelian, Hessonite, zephyrite, Alicite, Jasper, Demonseye, Ember Topaz, Inferno Ruby, Amberjewel, Dream Emerald, and Ocean sapphire...which sells very well.

It requires 2 obsidian ores to smelt one Obsidian Bar.

Elementium Ore

Elementium will be the new uncommon mineral observed when mining in Cataclysm, and can contain gems, Volatile Fire, Volatile Water, or Volatile Earth. It is a little bit tougher to acquire, though any trip all around Deepholm should net you results. Deepholm is a little bit distinct in mining for the reason that the total place is rock, so you'll find deposits situated almost everywhere.

For Prospecting Purposes You Can Find Carnelian, Hessonite, zephyrite, Alicite, Jasper, Demonseye, Ember Topaz, Inferno Ruby, Amberjewel, Dream Emerald, and Ocean sapphire...which sells rather effectively.

It requires two Elementium Ore to create 1 Elementium Bars.

Pyrite Ore

This could be found at Twilight Highlands, Uldum, Ahn'Qiraj: The Fallen Kingdom Pyrite will be the new rare mineral identified when mining in Cataclysm, and may consist of gems and Risky Fire.

For Prospecting You can find Carnelian, Hessonite, zephyrite, Alicite, Jasper, Demonseye, Ember Topaz, Inferno Ruby, Amberjewel, Dream Emerald, and Ocean sapphire, Unstable Earth, Inferno Ruby

It will require 2 ores per bar.
